Legend of Muaythai - Samart Payakaroon

For those who don't know what Muaythai is I'll kindly give you a brief introduction on it. Muaythai is also called by others as thaiboxing or the "Science of the 8 limps". Muaythai is a full contact sports which uses both our hands, elbow, legs and knees. Muaythai are unlike other martial arts as Muaythai attacks are not meant to score points but are meant to injure or knockout your opponent. The world sport council has recently rated Muaythai as the toughest ring sport in the world.

More information on Samart Payakaroon or Samart Tiptamai (Real Name). He was rated the best amongs all the other muaythai legends, for his intelligent movement, excellence counters, incredible skills and quick eye-sights. He hold 4 different Lumpini Stadiam titles: The Mini Flyweight (105 pounds) in 1980, Junior flyweight (108 pounds) in 1980, Junior bantamweight (115 pounds) in 1981 and Featherweight (116 pounds) in 1981.

Dominating the competition in thailand, he proceed to accomplish the WBC Super BantamWeight by defeating the former champion Lupe Pintor. Soon after in 1986, Samart successfully defended his WBC title against Juan Meza. The fight was rated one of the most beautiful fight in history. with his back against the rope and dodge 10 over punches in a row and in a single moment manage to knockout Juan Meza in a counter. He was one of the few who dared to face the terror of the ring and win.

But soon after in 1987, Samart lost his title to an Australian Boxer name Jeff Fenech, who is in a slightly different weight catagory. After losing, he continued his boxing career till 1994 which he announced his retirement in boxing. Samart payakaroon is currently now teaching Muaythai and giving Muaythai seminal around the world. His theory are " if the kick or punch is beautiful it ain't Muaythai " and " The best defences against an attack is not to be hit by it. "
